Alleged rape victim accused of false
report
LIMA, Ohio — A Lima woman who claimed she was raped by a then-Allen County sheriff’s
deputy was arrested yesterday for making a false police report.
Julie Romig, 41, was charged with falsification, a first-degree misdemeanor. She called
Maj. Gene King at home July 13, saying she had been raped by Deputy William Dickerson. The
deputy was placed on administrative leave and then resigned Aug. 1.
According to sheriff’s reports, Deputy Dickerson was on routine patrol when a man
outside an apartment complex asked him to check on an occupant in the complex. A short
while later, the woman called Major King to report the alleged assault.
Sheriff Dan Beck said yesterday the investigation showed that the two had known each other
for five to seven years and had consensual sexual contact that night.
