Pedigree of the Israelites And they assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month, and they declared their pedigrees after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, by their polls. Num 1:18
There were 603,350 able bodied Israelite men [zakar, #2145] over the age of 20 "every3605 male2145 by their polls;1538" at the time of the Exodus from Egypt, which occurred 33 generations after the birth of Jacob [read: Israel]. With women being half the population, males under 20 another 10%, and old men who couldn't fight another 5%, they would have been 35% of the entire Israelite population in that area. Thus Moses had 1,723,857 Israelites with him during the Exodus, plus an unspecified number of Ish [#376], and 23,000 males of the Tribe of Levi [Num 2:33 But the Levites were not numbered among the children of Israel; as the LORD commanded Moses]. Num 1:34 Of the sons of Manasseh--their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, every one going out to the host-- Num 1:35 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Manasseh, are two and thirty thousand and two hundred. Num 1:36 Of the sons of Benjamin--their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, every one going out to the host-- Num 1:37 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Benjamin, are five and thirty thousand and four hundred. Num 1:38 Of the sons of Dan--their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, every one going out to the host-- Num 1:39 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Dan, are two and sixty thousand and seven hundred. Num 1:40 Of the sons of Asher--their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, every one going out to the host-- Num 1:41 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Asher, are one and forty thousand and five hundred. Num 1:42 Of the sons of Naphtali--their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, every one going out to the host-- Num 1:43 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Naphtali, are three and fifty thousand and four hundred. Num 1:44 These are those numbered, whom Moses numbered--Aaron also, and the princes of Israel, twelve men--each for the house of his fathers, they have been. Num 1:45 And they are, all those numbered of the sons of Israel, by the house of their fathers, from a son of twenty years and upward, every one going out to the host in Israel, Num 1:46 yea, all those numbered are six hundred thousand, and three thousand, and five hundred and fifty. Num 1:47 And the Levites, for the tribe of their fathers, have not numbered themselves in their midst, Num 1:48 seeing Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying, Num 1:49 `Only, the tribe of Levi thou dost not number, and their sum thou dost not take up in the midst of the sons of Israel; Num 1:50 and thou, appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of the testimony, and over all its vessels, and over all that it hath; they bear the tabernacle, and all its vessels, and they serve it; and round about the tabernacle they encamp. Num 1:51 `And in the journeying of the tabernacle, the Levites take it down, and in the encamping of the tabernacle, the Levites raise it up; and the stranger who is coming near is put to death.' Num 1:52 And the sons of Israel have encamped, each by his camp, and each by his standard, by their hosts; |
